Our Story

As we celebrate more than five generations on the farm, we look back with amazement at how much we’ve grown and evolved through the decades.

Our roots trace back to the 1870s, when our family began as homesteaders in Wyoming and bakers in downtown Cheyenne. By the 1890s, Ed’s great-grandmother helped transition the family into cattle ranching, which became the main livelihood for more than a century.

In 1979, we took a leap of faith and shifted our focus toward hay production to support livestock operations. By 1995, we expanded into irrigated farming, making tremendous strides in speed, efficiency, and the production of high-quality feed — earning the trust of more and more horse operations across the region.

Every year continues to bring new challenges, excitement, and opportunities. Over the past decade, we’ve embraced a more holistic approach to farming, focusing on sustainability and the life cycle of the land we steward. Today, our primary focus is on producing premium 3x3 square bales, opening our doors to an even broader customer base through Red Baldy Ranch.

Now managed by the 4th generation of the Ferguson family, our farm remains rooted in tradition while looking forward to the future.
